Different industries have different payment needs — transaction frequency, average order value, cash flow cycles, and customer behaviour all affect which gateway and which plan makes the most sense. These guides go into the detail that matters for each sector.
The headline rate is rarely the full story. Here are the factors UAE businesses consistently find most important once they're live:
Total monthly cost, not just the rate. A gateway charging 2.37% with no monthly fee can be more expensive than one charging 2.6% + AED 49/month, depending on your volume. Always run the numbers with your actual transaction count and average order value.
Settlement speed. Some gateways settle in 1 business day by default. Others take 3–5 working days — and charge extra for faster settlement. For a business with tight cash flow, holding AED 10,000–30,000 in transit at any time is a real operational cost that doesn't appear in the rate.
WhatsApp-native payment links. Most UAE B2C businesses close sales over WhatsApp. A payment link that opens cleanly on mobile, doesn't require an app download, and completes in under 60 seconds converts meaningfully better than one that doesn't.
MCC category rates. If your business qualifies — education, grocery, F&B, and others — industry-specific rates can reduce transaction fees by 0.5–1% compared to flat rates. At AED 100,000/month in volume, that difference is AED 500–1,000/month.
What happens when something goes wrong. A shared support queue and a dedicated account manager who knows your business are very different experiences when you have a payment issue the night before an event or a high-volume sale period.
